A 3-day event scheduled to be held from 3rd to 5th of March, the Cuban festival will attract some of the best dance participants and performers from across the world to come and share rhythm, dance and sound of the Afro-Cuban beats. All sorts of Cuban dance styles will be covered in a special journey for dancers of all abilities. Friday evening workshops will be followed by a dance party led by Cuban Salsa DJ. After showcase of dance performances and the Grand Festival Bally, the festival will be concluded with a final farewell known as Poroporoake.

International Women’s Day Parade and Picnic

On the 8th of March, the Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History will turn into a spot of women pride as you celebrate the International Women’s Day. The parade starts from the courtyard at Te Manawa, gliding past the streets prior to entering the Square at Te Marae o Hine. At this spot, enjoy a shared picnic experience, as you laugh, celebrate, sing and dance with the others. There will also be massive puppet representations of various ethnicities that make up the city. Adding more excitement will be the mass dance for all women attending the event.

The Performance Arcade

Bringing an exciting assortment of shipping containers to the Wellington waterfront, The Performance arcade, starting 10th of March, is an annual celebration of visual arts. The event features performance installations by 35 national and international artists, along with the Wellington Pop-up Sauna, live music, food trucks and pop-up bar. Attracting a huge crowd every year, people come for an exciting program, set in a unique architectural arrangement of containers, providing an innovative platform for performers. The event continues up until 19th of March, and is a must visit this month.

Rockin Ribs Fest

A 2-day event on the 11th and 12th of March at the West Melton Community Centre and Hall, the Rocking Ribs Fest is all about ripping the ribs. There will be BBQ cooking competitions, kids jelly eating competitions, wine, whiskey, craft beer and what not. With slowly smoked BBQ rips of lamb, pork and chicken on offer, you are in for a gastronomic delight. And then you have the BBQ hotdogs, Candy floss, stilt walkers and balloon animals to keep you full and entertained. You can win up to $4000 by participating in the cooking competition.

Rotorua Walking Festival

Due to be held on the 18th and 19th of March, the two-day recreational Rotorua Walking Festival is a golden opportunity to meet international walkers from different parts of the world. There’s a 42-km marathon, as well as half marathon (21 km) in the beautiful Whakarewarewa Forest and other reserve areas of Rotura. Walkers from Northern hemisphere country including Netherlands, Finland and Belgium will converge for a leisure walk in a relaxed atmosphere.

Balloons Over Waikato

The mighty Waikato River is a fantabulous scenic beauty in the lap of nature. Hot Air Ballooning over this region is one hell of an experience, and this event on the 22nd of March is something that you cannot afford to miss. Ascend through the sunrise in the inflated hot air balloons, launching from the Innes Common. The balloons will visit multiple towns, including Te Kuiti and Tokoroa, full of live entertainment and food stalls. Africa Entsha

Coming to the Napier Municipal Theatre on the 28th of March, Africa Entsha is a touring music group from South-Africa, and is considered to be unique one as compared to other African music shows. The best part about them is their 4-part singing, although some context regarding their collection would have been better.
