The Soundshell Market has been operating since the last three decades, featuring outdoor stalls held right at the Lakefront in Rotorua. This December, it will take place in the Soundshell and Village Green in a fabulous location, within close proximity to cafes and restaurants. The stalls will feature items from all across the country, including gemstones, shells, lavender, plants, garden ornaments, vinyl records, wooden carvings, greenstone, woodware, tools, clothing, jewellery, antiques, collectables and crafts. The most awaited Latin Festival of the year will be taking place on the 9th of December. Passchendaele
On the 18th of December, the National Library of New Zealand will be hosting the newly opened exhibition looking at the expertise of Passchendaele from the viewpoint of soldiers who took part, including Leonard Hart, Jesse Stayte and Peter Howden. In October 1917, the New Zealand troops serving with the ANZAC corps made their way towards the atrocious conditions of mud, rain and dead bodies of soldiers. The exhibition will be taking place at the Turnbull Room on the ground level of National Library.
Christmas Celebration Retreat

Tangata Whenua are the kaitaki custodians not only of this region, but also of the connections to whakapapa culture and genealogy. Put on display will be the Taonga, including a 9-metre waka that was presented as a gift to museum in the year 1953. This was done in remembrance of Te Kauru Karaitiana by his mother and sisters.

On the 29th of December, Motukarara Racecourse in Christchurch will turn into a festive mood, with the Interislander Summer Festival Motukarara Trots.
