Art Trail Manawatu
The Art Trail Manawatu on the 1st of October is brought to you by the Square Edge Community arts, with a chance to explore the Palmerston North City, and be intrigued and inspired by the level of creativity on display at their studio spaces. Come along with your friends and family for an enriching experience, witnessing the talent of local community. There will be a number of artists participating in the event and live workshops will be conducted throughout the day.
Northland National Potters Week Exhibition 2017
The Yvonne Rust Gallery in Whangarei will be hosting the 15th Annual Potters Week exhibition from 2nd to 17th of October, in association with Quarry Art Centre. It will help display the rebuilding of the new community wood fired kiln ‘Sweaty Betty’, that was initially named ‘K-3’. The constant support of WDC has been widely appreciated by the community, tourists and Northland artists. The main objective behind this event is to raise the silhouette of handmade pottery in New Zealand; a culture that should never die.
“It!” Bay of Islands Food and Wine Festival
On the 7th of October, the Bay of Islands will turn into a festive mood with its boutique food and wine festival celebrating 8th anniversary, “It”. The event will be a successful recipe of entertainment, mouth-watering food, beer, award-winning wines and some real kiwi competitions, including Pie Eating, Oyster Shucking and Eating, and Kina Sucking. Live music and entertainment will be the course of the day throughout the venue. There’s also a dedicated children area, which allows you to relax and soak up the ambiance, while your kids have fun, participating in face painting or bouncing castles.
Modern Maori Quartet With Annie Crummer
Following the release of their debut album, ‘That’s Us’, the Modern Maori Quartet is on an extensive tour travelling to and fro, taking their music to people around the country. Joining them on the stage at the Crystal Palace Theatre on the 14th of October will be the beloved Annie Crummer. They are on a mission to inspire a new generation of parties and fuel honest gatherings. It’s a tribute to the heartland of Aotearoa that people can sing along to, and show how Maori showbands is the real music they thrive on.
2017 October Okere Falls Beerfest
Kicking off on the 16th of October with DJ night and beer specials, the weeklong Beerfest will be taking place in Rotorua, with a fantastic menu of German festivities and live music, including the energetic horn blowing band. The week will end with great coffee in the garden bar and a cruisy German breakfast. The key highlight here is the Friday night line up with dynamic acoustic beats, pop, rock, funky sounds, along with reggae, dub & funk. The party continues on Saturday with high energy harmonies and awesome vocals from Albi & the wolves, and the much-talked-about Rock n Roll band, Clap Clap Riot.

2017 Auckland Brick Show – LEGO Display
Scheduled to take place from 21st to 23rd of October at The Trusts Arena, the 2017 Auckland Brick Show will be featuring LEGO displays and models by members of LEGO user group and visitors from across the country. Presenting the best of LEGO display on offer, you will get to see a huge city display with subways, monorails and trains, superhero collections, a massive Auckland Skytower model, Harry Potter displays and amazing LEGO creations of almost all types including spaceships, fantasy scenes and castles. There will also be a dedicated Playbrick area, especially for kids.
Archaeological Walking Tour
For over 2 decades, Mary O’Keefe has been investigating the archaeology of Wellington with pure dedication. This October on the 23rd, he’ll be taking you on a guided walk to various sites in Wellington that she has discovered over the years, and have plenty of stories to tell about. The 1.5 hour walk will commence from the Te Papa forecourt and conclude in the railway station vicinity. This occasion is a part of City Heritage Week, showcasing city’s culture and identity.
