Sculpture Northland 2017
With an extensive line-up of more than 40 talented artists, Sculpture Northland will be taking over the Whangarei Quarry Gardens from 3nd of November in a fantastic exhibition combining art with nature. Expect a wonderful array of plants on sale this year, thanks to the amazing support from local community and the volunteers. Apart from promoting and supporting hugely talented local artists, the event will also raise funds for the Gardens. Come along to select your favourite piece and vote for the best one!
Magicians – On Stage
Everyone is invited to participate in a magical experience at the ASB theatre in Auckland on the 4th of November in a theatrical twist to a magic show, where you will be transported to a world of impossible occurrences. Meet the strange, skilled and quirky performers, best of the five magicians in the world to offer you an unbelievable experience in a wild celebration of magic. It’s not any ordinary magic show with ladies split in half or rabbits coming out of hat. Treat yourself to something new that will warm your heart and leave you in flabbergast.
Rotorua Festival of Gardens 2017
Some of the most stunning gardens in Rotorua will be put on display from the 10th to 12th of November, with the likes of tiny town plots and large rural gardens coming into play, giving you an idea of what needs to be done with your own garden at home. Children aged under 14 can join free of cost, and a part of the price you pay, will be donated to helping the St John’s and the Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter. In the 3-day period you can visit as many gardens as you want!
Dutch Film Festival in Wellington
Don’t miss out the screening of ‘The Chocolate Castle’ in the Dutch Film festival to be held in Wellington for a closing night on the 11th of November. This is a documentary about ending slavery in the cocoa chain, as young Dutch journalists strive hard to make it possible. It shows the difficulty in eliminating fundamental injustice and errors in a global system. With sheer determination, the journalists manage to launch the first slave-free choco bar in 2005. A decade later, this initiative has evolved into one big movement, with a wide appeal across the globe, including New Zealand.
Cirkopolis
From the 14th of November, the widely acclaimed circus extravaganza Cirkopolis will be taking the centre stage at the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch, after a successful worldwide tour. With their amazing physical prowess, 12 multi-talented acrobatic artists will challenge the limits of gravity, bringing to the show their Canadian-French style of humour. This is an ultimate family show with a fantastic blend of dance, theatre and acrobatics set against an imposing cityscape. Travel to a world where reality is challenged by fantasy and the veil of solitude and anonymity is replaced by vibrant colours.
Saturday Night Fever – The Musical
Saturday Night Fever is the greatest dancefloor musical of all time, due to be held on the 17th of November at the ASB Theatre in Auckland. It’s an iconic story of the 70s about a young Tony Manero who learns how valuable life is. Dance floor is his ultimate getaway from the reality of his dead job, racial tensions in the community, clashes with unsupportive parents and other issues. Ever since 1977, the story has been capturing the passion, energy and life-turning moments that have thrilled audiences over the years. A new generation of talented singers, dancers and actors meet a fresh generation of theatre lovers to explore the pulsating rhythms and soaring sounds of the fantasy.
Toast Martinborough Wine Food and Music Festival 2017
Coming at the back of a history 25 years long, Toast Martinborough is certainly the best food and wine festival in New Zealand. At this year’s event on the 19th of November, around 8 vineyards will be supported by exceptional food, catering to everyone’s hunger. Spend your day talking to the winemakers, trying new releases and ticking off the bubbles bars. Experience the unique taste of each vineyard, along with backing sound tracks that will have you laughing, dancing and singing all day.
Peer-led Paradigm Shift Seminar – International Peer Leaders
This November on the 22th, International Peer Leaders will be discussing on outcome-focused response to mental suffering at the University of Otago. The seminar will take attention of people suffering from mental trauma, as well as the professionals delivering support and services in the sector of social and mental health development, justice and education. Renowned speakers include the likes of Mary O’Hagan, Jenny Speed, Flick Grey and Steven Morgan.
Marton Market Day
On the 25th of November, the streets of Marton will come to life with best bargains and lots of entertainment, with over 200 stalls of finest fresh produce, food, arts and crafts of the local community to be enjoyed. It’s an ideal opportunity to buy some quality stuff at reasonable prices, as you enjoy the pride of the historic rural town in New Zealand. There will be activities, competitions and entertainment all day long, with something for everyone to enjoy! Marley: NZ All-Stars
As a tribute to Bob Marley, this musical show on the 30th of November will feature more than 30 classics, making up the show for a night at The Trusts Arena. Some of the biggest names will be a part of this homage, with some incredible songs including One Love, No Woman No Cry, Exodus, Punky Reggae Party, Buffalo Soldier, Redemption Song, Stir it Up, 3 Little Birds and Get Up Stand Up. They will also be backed by the fantastic NZ All-stars band!
