The Heartland Flyer
Want to experience the best of travelling in a stream train? Join us on the 13th of May in Palmerston North for a ride on a coal fired steam locomotive that will be using our flotilla of red heritage carriages. The passenger stops include Palmerston North, Shannon, Levin, Otaki, Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Paekakariki. The train will include a buffet car selling snacks, drinks and hot food. There will be an hour stopover at Woodville, while the locomotive is serviced. You can find some local food and craft stalls here showcasing fresh local produces.
Let Me Be Myself – The Life Story of Anne Frank
This international exhibition scheduled to be held on the 14th of May at the Auckland War Memorial Museum has been developed by Anne Frank House. The story explores life of Anne and her family, looking at events surrounding the rise of Nazi Party in Germany and the rise of Holocaust. You can discover the themes of discrimination, prejudice and identity through stories from 6 young people dealing with challenges. Auckland Museum will be the first to host this exhibition!
LUX Light Festival

The event will transform Wellington Waterfront and the laneways into a wonderful arrangement of spectacular light art. Imagine Dragons
The legacy of Imagine Dragons is known to one and all, and they are here once again to prove their mettle at the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington on the 23rd of May. Their last performance was a couple of years back in support of chart-topping album, Smoke + Mirrors. This is going to be their first ever show in Wellington, with a crew including drummer Daniel Platzman, bassist Ben McKee and guitarist Wayne Sermon. With ‘Believer’, Evolve produced the 2nd longest #1 single run in the history of US chart.
Blue Dragon Book Fair 2018
The Ngaio Town Hall in Wellington will be hosting the 2018 Blue Dragon Book Fair on the 26th of May, with an objective to donate all the raised funds to the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation to provide support for education. It’s an open invitation to come and donate puzzles, CDs, DVDs and books. You can also volunteer to organise the event on the night before the fair. Whatever you pay for the books and the items on sale goes towards a noble cause.
NZ Hot Sauce Festival 2018
Who would have imagined that a festival as such can exist? This has been made possible by the duo of Clint Meyer and his friend Mark Jackson who are presenting more than 100 sauces from some of the hottest producers in the country. The festival will be held at the Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen in Auckland, on the 26th of May. Some of the favourite sauces on the list include Culley’s, Gringo Killer, Cook and Nelson, Fire Dragon Chillies, Lucky Taco, Gringo Killer, Frank’s Red Hot and Wild West Worcester. There will be a spicy smokehouse food menu, chilli beers, fiery cocktails, live music and winning sauces. Judging the homemade hot sauce competitors, will be the top hot sauce producers of the country.
Seether
Coming at the back of sold-out shows, Seether have announced their arrival, with the opening show on the 28th of May in Isaac theatre of Christchurch. Seether is a band that delivers sweat, blood and musical brutality, in equal measures of purpose and ferocity. The show will transport you to a different state, as they cut through the noise with undeniable authenticity and truth telling clarity. Their performances are armed with monster melodies and soaring guitars delivered with atmospheric crunch!
