Cirque Du Soleil: Toruk – The First Flight

Chocolate Factory Tours 2017

Join the heavenly world of chocolate making, as you are introduced to the complete process of crafting chocolate at WCF, the first ‘bean-to-bar’ chocolate factory in New Zealand. The tour will be conducted on the 2nd of September, as you get an opportunity to walk around the factory’s public side to know the entire story. Get to know the history behind the process, where the beans come from and how it is roasted, winnowed, and tempered in the custom built factory. The tour concludes with a chance to taste complimentary hot chocolate and delectable single origin chocolates.

Matilda the Musical

There simply cannot be a show like this, which perfectly captures the literary world of the legend Roald Dahl. Inspired by his beloved book, Matilda the Musical will be performed live on the 6th of September; a tribute to an award winning musical by the Royal Shakespeare Company. With an original score by Tim Minchin and the book by Dennis Kelly, this is a story of a girl who, blessed with a sharp mind and vivid imagination changes her own fate, by taking a robust stand.

Franklin Arts Festival

Showcasing the work of talented artists from the Franklin District and all across the country, the Franklin Arts Festival is an annual celebration of visual arts due to be held on the 8th of September. Currently in its 27th edition, the event has crossed leaps and bound to become a bigger and better festival. There will be more than 800 artworks put on sale, featuring work of more than 180 artists and some great prize money to be won. Entries cover a wide variety of category including youth art, glass, small sculptures, woodcraft, photography, ceramics, pottery, textile arts and paintings.

Wellington Tiny House Conference

Get inspired by all things Tiny house related at the inaugural tiny house conference on the 9th of September. It will cover planning, designing, building and legalities of house buses, yurts and tiny house on trailers, in addition to some valuable information about communities. There will be keynote speakers presenting slides and live panel discussions where you can ask questions directly from expert. Breakfast and lunch options will be provided on site at a cost.

Ngā Kete Toi

Scheduled to be held on the 13th of September, Ngā Kete Toi exhibition showcases the work of tutors, graduates and students of the Bachelor of Maori Arts degree. The art of weaving is a unique skill, and this program includes all aspects of Maori weaving, discovering the wide range of traditional practices from lattice work to plaiting and fibre weaving. You will be able to see the replication of the techniques and practices undertaken by the ancestors, with an objective to weave ancient practices to the future of modern art.

Elite Wildside Presents Foam and Glow

Following an epic sell out of Nitro Neon Hawkes Bay, Elite Wildside is proud to present another successful event, Foam and Glow, on the 16th of September. With more fantastic DJs on board from all across New Zealand, the extensive line-up will be announced soon. The event will be on a larger scale of lighting and sound with a pumping night on offer. The venue is subject to change depending upon the capacity load, and any tickets purchased will still be valid at the new venue. At present, Clive Hall is the official destination where the foam with take the form of glow lights.

The Dunedin Art Show

The first ever Dunedin Art Show is here, scheduled from 22nd to 24th of September, where visitors can see and buy a wide array of artworks from all over the country. Anticipated to be the biggest art show in Dunedin, it will fill a space of 2000 square meters of the Edgar Centre and people are sure to enjoy this colossal event. Artworks are priced from as low as $50 to as high as $6000, so that everyone gets what they want. These artworks are basically the ones selected for The People’s Choice Award and The Dunedin Art Show Award.

The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride 2017

Every Year, thousands of Gentleman in cities worldwide starch their tweed and straddle on their motorcycles to raise funds for mental health awareness and prostate cancer research. Last year, NZD 16,000 was raised with pure effort. Following the success, the event has been tailored to deliver more entertainment along the route, with like-minded people. At the finishing point on Hood Street, enjoy a wide range of dapper folk and classic bikes on display, fostering great community spirit. You would surely not want to miss this event, if you are a true motorcycle enthusiast.

Tauranga Farmers Market

At the weekly Tauranga Farmers Market on Saturday, buy directly from the local producers, guaranteed to give you some quality stuff. There will be some entertainment from the local artists, along with a wide variety of ready to eat food, ranging from baking treats to Cornish pasties and bacon to egg butties. Sit down and relax at the picnic table, while enjoying the ambiance. The market was established in 2003, with an aim to provide value-added and fresh food products to the community, thanks to the incorporated society.
